My name is Marvin (he/him/siya). I am an advanced clinical social work intern and Master’s of Science in Social Work (MSSW) candidate at Columbia University. I am a proudly queer Filipino-American. I have been fortunate to have been raised in a minority-majority community in the suburbs of Long Island – an experience not many can relate to. I was taught to embrace differences, feel comfortable in my own skin, and use my privilege to help uplift other disadvantaged/marginalized communities of color. Positionality is important. Our identities, experiences, and traumas are heavily shaped by our relation to power, race, oppression, and privilege. I am committed to fostering a collaborative, affirming, and safe environment for clients. I’m excited to meet you where you’re at and heal together.
